Featured Event: Join us Friday, May 15, for our annual Nye-Sommers Lecture, delivered by celebrated author and historian A. Wilson Greene on "The Crossing of the James and the First Petersburg Offensive." Greene recounts how, in June 1864, Grant executed one of the war's most spectacular logistical operations across the James River — only to squander the advantage in a series of errors that led to nine more months of brutal fighting for Petersburg. Greene is at work on the third volume of his Petersburg trilogy, A Campaign of Giants. Dinner at 6:30 pm, presentation at 7:15 pm. Virtual attendance available via Zoom (please join by 7:00 pm).
President's Message: Mo Becker bills the Nye-Sommers as the biggest event of Campaign 67 — one members "simply cannot afford to miss" — and makes a final push for Treasurer and Secretary volunteers to fill key openings on the Board before June elections.
