November 2026 Newsletter
Campaign 68 | November 13, 2026
Read the latest from the Harrisburg Civil War Round Table in our November edition. Inside you'll find:
Twilight of the Blue & Gray: The 1938 Reunion at Gettysburg: Join us for our annual salute to veterans on Friday, November 13, as Ranger Christopher Gwinn recounts how, in July 1938, over 1,800 Union and Confederate veterans gathered in Gettysburg one last time. Ranger Gwinn is the Chief of Interpretation and Education at Gettysburg National Military Park and is back by popular demand. Doors open at 5:30 pm at the Central Penn College Conference Center; dinner is $35 per person, with reservations due to Michael Margolius by noon on Sunday, November 1. Can't join us in person? The lecture and Q&A stream on Zoom — please join by 7:00 pm.
President's Pen: Rev. Rebecca S. Myers reflects on Veterans Day, her family's generations of military service, and her particular connection to the Navy and the Navy Hymn. She invites everyone to the November 13 meeting, reminds us that the Round Table is covering dinner for all veterans who attend as part of our Veterans Day tribute, and invites veterans to wear their medals.
Seats Still Available — Fall Field Trip to Manassas: Our fall field trip, War is No Picnic: The First Battle of Bull Run, takes place Saturday, October 24, 2026, with Brad Gottfried as our guide. Cost is $95.00 per person — three seats remained on the bus as this newsletter went to press. The only way to reserve a seat is to contact Field Trip Reservationist Steve Williamson directly at 717-580-0443.
Plus: The Round Table is still searching for a new Treasurer — contact Past President John West at 412-217-1234 or john@johnfwest.com if you're interested; a roundup of regional Civil War events through early December, including Gettysburg CWRT and Hershey CWRT lectures, the National Civil War Museum's Community Free Day in Honor of Veterans and the National Reading of Names of United States Colored Troops, and the Memorial Illumination at Antietam; and the Campaign 68 meeting schedule through June 2027.
