Featured Event: Join us Friday, June 5, for our annual membership meeting, where HCWRT member Carolyn Ivanoff recounts "A Heart Touched By Fire — Cornelia Hancock's Civil War." Ivanoff traces the courage and devotion of Quaker nurse Cornelia Hancock, who served the Second Corps from Gettysburg to the Grand Review and, with her letters, chronicled both her own story and a nation in the throes of war. Dinner at 6:30 pm, presentation at 7:15 pm. Virtual attendance available via Zoom (please join by 7:00 pm).
President's Message: In his final message, Mo Becker closes a landmark 67th campaign — celebrating a 70-plus turnout for the Nye-Sommers Lecture, thanking the Board and leadership team who rebuilt the Round Table after the pandemic, and announcing that a new HCWRT website will launch at harrisburgcwrt.org by the end of the summer to reach a wider audience.
Spring Field Trip Recap: Our sold-out May 2 trip to South Mountain was a tremendous success — guide Dennis Frye was spectacular, lunch at the Bavarian Inn delicious, and the weather perfect, leaving everyone with a deeper understanding of Lee's first defeat.
Looking Ahead: The June 5 annual meeting brings Campaign 67 to a close; the Board wraps the year with its second meeting on June 13, and programs resume in the fall for Campaign 68.
Plus: A recap of the April 25 unveiling of a new wayside honoring Col. Henry I. Zinn of the 130th PA at Mount Zion Cemetery; a roundup of regional events, including talks at the National Civil War Museum, Memorial Day programs, and the Yale Public History Institute symposium; and membership information.
