Join us Friday, October 9, as noted historian Dr. Matthew Pinsker shares insights on Abraham Lincoln and the politics of the Civil War, drawn from his latest book, Boss Lincoln: The Partisan Life of Abraham Lincoln — which the Wall Street Journal has called "a landmark book." Beneath the marble-monument image lies a working politician: a canny organizer who built coalitions, managed patronage, and mastered the partisan machinery of his age to hold the Union together.
About the speaker: Dr. Matthew Pinsker holds the Pohanka Chair in American Civil War History at Dickinson College, where he directs the House Divided Project. He is a widely published author and one of the most respected voices on Lincoln and the Civil War era.
